Birmingham is our Home

I prefer Birmingham because it is a more laid back city. It reminds me of where I was born in Zimbabwe, it feels like home.

I came to Birmingham in 1952; I met my husband, got married and have been here ever since. I love Birmingham, I wouldn't move from Birmingham.

There are things I could tell you about the war, but they would make me cry. Birmingham is heaven.

I've met loads of people who say, 'Oh my Mother's Irish, my Father's Irish, my Aunt is Irish.' There is always somebody Irish and I always say, 'Well who isn't Irish?' We have this connection.

I make it a point to take my two children around Birmingham and show them the history, so they have the same passion for Birmingham as I have.

I worked hard to look after my daughters. They have all done their degrees, they are all working. I love Birmingham, it's so open.

I think it was a good decision to come to Birmingham. People here were very friendly especially when you tell them you are from Bosnia because they hear what is happening.

To me Birmingham is good. I'm an honorary Brummie. I enjoy living here. Even if I go away I want to come back because to me, after 46 years, this is my home.
